RETIRED NFL QUARTERBACK JAKE PLUMMER TO ATTEND THE OCTOBER 26 MARIJUANA INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATION (MITA) NETWORKING EVENT
The networking event in Downtown Phoenix welcomes retired Pro-Bowl quarterback Jake Plummer, an advocate for medical cannabis and wellness in the NFL.
PHOENIX, Ariz., (October 14, 2022) — The Marijuana Industry Trade Association (MITA), named one of the Top Networking Organizations in Arizona by the Phoenix Business Journal, today announced the upcoming appearance of Jake Plummer, former NFL quarterback and cannabis advocate, to their October 26 networking event.
Jake Plummer enjoyed a 10-year tenure in the NFL after a successful football career at ASU. He will be at the MITA networking event to discuss his advocacy for cannabis usage, sign autographs, pose for photos, and meet with fans from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at the Found:RE Hotel, 1100 N. Central Avenue in Downtown Phoenix. Tickets start at $30 and are available at mita-az.org or at the door.
The retired pro athlete’s appearance at the event is part of an ongoing effort led by MITA to raise awareness for athletes that work to further cannabis acceptance, and in particular former NFL players as the Valley prepares to host the league’s Big Game in February 2023. Retired NFL players Kyle Turley, Jim McMahon, and Eben Britton, founders of Revenant, a popular cannabis brand, were at MITA’s August meeting.
“MITA works closely with former professional athletes for the goal of promoting the proper and responsible messaging and use of cannabis: for therapeutic and wellness reasons,” said Demitri Downing, founder and CEO at MITA. “Jake Plummer has a track record of advocating for responsible cannabis usage as a way for athletes to address the wear and tear of their sport on their bodies. As a former Arizona professional athlete, he is the ideal person to attend this MITA meeting. We appreciate how he utilizes his connections and expertise to help bring a mainstream acceptance to the cannabis industry, especially in the NFL.”
Since retiring from an award-winning NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, Jake Plummer has used his platform to advocate for the responsible use of cannabis and CBD as a way for professional athletes to address the health complications that arise from their time in the NFL. He has spoken to multiple media outlets about how using CBD has helped him with multiple health issues, he signed an open letter to encourage the NFL to change their strict policy on cannabis consumption, he is a Doctors for Cannabis Regulation NFL steering committee member, and helps to raise funds for cannabinoid research, among other advocacy efforts.
“This natural plant can help former athletes and other people with a myriad of health conditions, which in turn, helps them to live their best lives possible,” said Jake Plummer. “I look forward to attending this MITA event to connect with others who advocate for health and wellness through responsible cannabis usage.”
