ARIZONA NORML ANNOUNCES IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL EXPUNGEMENT RESOURCE CLINIC AT SOL FLOWER IN SUN CITY
February 19th, 2022

Open to the public, the hybrid event will be led by Arizona attorneys and take place at the Sol Flower dispensary wellness classroom.

SUN CITY, Ariz. (February 7, 2022)– Arizona NORML, a state chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), announced today it will offer its first Expungement Resource Clinic of the new year at Sol Flower dispensary in Sun City. The free event will take place in-person and virtually from 1-5 p.m., Saturday February 19th, at the Sol Flower wellness classroom, 13650 N. 99th Avenue, on the corner of 99th Avenue and W. Thunderbird Road, in Sun City.

Open to the public, no registration is required to attend the community clinic. Individuals may also participate virtually via zoom. For more information visit arizonanorml.org.

The Expungement Resource Clinic offers individuals with previous marijuana convictions access to one-on-one consultation with Arizona attorneys. Clinic attendees are encouraged to bring as much documentation as possible relative to their case in Arizona, such as an arrest record, a criminal complaint, and/or a sentencing order. Individuals who do not have documentation are still encouraged to attend.

“There are over 192,000 Arizona residents with marijuana charges that qualify for expungement. Sol Flower is committed to helping these individuals by providing a welcoming community space to start the process,” said Ryan Hurley, general counsel at Copperstate Farms.

Arizona NORML hosted 57 expungement events throughout the state with multiple free clinics at Sol Flower and at least one in every county. Arizona NORML plans to continue its free clinics in 2022 while also advocating for a bill to allow for universal and automatic expungements at the next legislative session.

“Low-level marijuana offenses are fundamentally unjust in states that have legalized, and unfortunately, they have fallen in disproportionate numbers on the communities who can least afford legal services. Therefore, over the past six months, we’ve helped numerous individuals petition for expungement and take the first step to clearing their record through our work with Sol Flower,” stated Arizona NORML’s Political Director, Jon Udell.

In addition to the expungement clinics, Sol Flower’s Sun City wellness classroom hosts weekly educational courses with trusted experts and community-focused activations. Sol Flower is an Arizona dispensary brand established by Copperstate Farms with five locations, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sun City, and two in Tempe.
